Edward Peters was born in 1895 in Barrington (Royston Q1-1895 3A:555), son of Albert and Elizabeth PETERS (née WARREN).

1901 census...Aged 6, he was at Ram Head, Commercial End, Swaffham Bulbeck with his father Albert PETERS [40] a butcher; his mother Elizabeth [33]; brothers Albert [4] and Alfred [1], all were born in Barrington.

1911 census... Aged 16, a farm labourer, he was at Commercial End, Swaffham Bulbeck with his parents, brothers Albert (farm labourer), Alfred James and George William [3] and sister Hilda [7] both born in Swaffham Bulbeck.

He enlisted in Cambridge.
His was the only death in the Brigade that day. His Army records have not been found and where his unit was has also proved impossible to find.

His Military Medal was gazetted on 21st September 1916.There is no citation.



Edward Peters is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, pier and face 1C/8A
